Congratulations! You have made it to this page. Well done, well done. There is one of few things we have in this world that will never fade away and has a very large impact on us. Music. Few things can move me like music does. It reaches to the depths of my soul and resonates throughout my entire life. If you are looking to learn guitar, which is what this blog is about, then let me say a few things. Guitar is one of the most beautiful instruments we have available to us. Everywhere you look you will find one. It is also one of the few instruments that can be played alone and sound amazing.
Anyone can "play" guitar. Most people at one point or another during their life will try to pick up the guitar and learn. This is not a bad thing at all! However, it's where you go with it at that point that matters. If you want to learn guitar but don't want to go through all the practice, maybe don't pick it up. I will be upfront and tell you right now, if you aren't going to practice, then don't waste your time because that's exactly what it will be. Have you ever been in a group of people when someone pulled out a guitar and started playing but it was not good at all? It got annoying and all you could think about was how to stop the train wreck. Yeah, that person doesn't practice. There is a difference between someone who is learning to play and isn't quite there yet and someone who isn't quite there yet and doesn't think practice is necessary.
What you can do with a guitar is endless. You will always be learning. There is not a single person on this earth who has mastered guitar completely. Even the best still have so much more to learn. This is also the beauty of it. The learning never ends. There are so many techniques, rhythms, styles, sounds, chords, beats,........I am excited to share with you the knowledge I have obtained over the years on this instrument. I will teach to my capacity and hopefully you surpass where I am at and someday you can teach me. I will try to pin point your style and help you develop just that. I do not want for you to try to play like me or like anyone else. I want you to figure out who you are behind the guitar and strive to enhance that. Everyone has a unique style of playing. You should stick to that because it is where your true colors will shine. Don't waste you time trying to be someone else. You have a unique musical style. You were made to be you. Not someone else. I was inspired by my dad back in 1997 to play guitar. He plays classical. He started to teach me and from there I flew in my own direction. I can't play a single classical song but if it weren't for him I would not be playing today. He instilled in me a desire for music that will be in me for the rest of my life. This doesn't mean you can't pick up ideas or styles similar to others. Everyone has their influences and these are key to becoming who you are not only in life but also in music.
